Self-Promotion: Google Knowledge Panel

A.D. Sterling

One day, out of curiosity, I googled my pen name "A.D. Sterling" and was surprised to discover that some information about me and the books I'd written showed up on the right hand side like it does if you search for someone famous (and no, I don't think that makes me famous!). I then also noticed that I could make suggestions to the information that was displayed about me via a link for "suggest edits".

After verifying my identity with Google (it was a bit of a process and I had to submit a photo of myself holding my driver's license) I was able to submit and request modifications to my Knowledge Panel. It seems that if you are recognized then the panel already exists. I assume this is based on Google crawling Amazon, since that was the only place my book existed for sale at the time, but it could also be because of my website.

I was able to submit modifications to my profile picture, add my socials and even added my age and where I grew up. It's been a few years since I discovered this and I can see it's time to suggest some more changes!
